Predicting The Winners For The Game Awards

Playstation 4 Controller

The Game Awards is the grand event for players, fans, and creators of video games everywhere. It is an annual awards show that recognizes creative and technical excellence in the gaming industry. Held in December every year, this ceremony celebrates the top video games of the year, while also giving fans a sneak preview into some upcoming releases that are planned for the following year. Nevertheless, the nominees for this year’s show have been announced. Here are my predictions for the winners of The Game Awards.

Game of the Year

Winner: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The biggest award of the year goes to the legendary Zelda; however, it was not an easy decision. In fact, if Destiny 2 had been nominated, my vote would’ve gone there. Nevertheless, Legend of Zelda games rarely disappoint, and this one knocked it out of the park.

Other Nominees: Super Mario Odyssey, PlayersUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn

Best Game Direction

Winner: Horizon Zero Dawn

Simply put, the creative vision and innovation of Zero Dawn was impeccable. Clearly, the game was an overall success, as noted by its many nominations, so it won’t be much of a surprise to see them take home a few awards this year.

Other Nominees: Wolfenstein II, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey

Big Winner: Destiny 2

Going a bit off script here by highlighting one of the favorites in 2017; Destiny 2. As mentioned above, if it were nominated for Game of the Year, it would have been my clear-cut choice. With that being said, Destiny 2 is my pick for a number of awards, including Best Art Direction, Best Score/Music, Best Action Game, Best Multiplayer Game and Best On-Going Game.
